I know.
I haven't been on here for ages.
Largely due to cr*p computer behaving as if its obsessed and failing on me, then there's been cats to deal with (two new kittens for me nephew, one of the kittens turned out to be a girl, the vet told us) and the ever-present always ready to strike at any moment-thing called hayfever.
Cessy is a great comfort though, has been very cuddly of late, but the warmth (it's tropical over here and that ain't right) is getting to her.
*thanks higher powers for whomever invented the ceiling-fan*
Right. Pharmacy.
I was getting my prescription for asthma medicine renewed, that's when I bumped into Annyoing Person No. 1.
The nurse on the phone is probably a well-meaning critter, but I've had asthma and hayfever since infancy - I know the game.
"Oh the grass is getting to you?" she said, with something sounding like compassion.
"Yes," I replied.
And then she launched into Annying Mode: "Well, please don't forget to take your medicines, and please don't hang the laundry out to dry, and please don't mow the lawn!"
As I said, I've been an asthmatic with hayfever since infancy, I do know better than to not take my medicine, or hang laundry outside, or mow lawns.
I mumbled something (I hope it sounded as "I know") then the nurse said the prescription would be ready the following day.
Which leads us to - the pharmacy.
Annoying Person No. 2.
Elderly Bloke At Pharmacy.
If a person is getting...you know...old or something, my strong advice is, no matter how heartless it may seem: GET RID OF THEM!!!!!!
I take two medicines to help me cope with asthma: they're called Bricanyl (a turbohaler) and Seretide (a disc-like object). They were listed on the prescription, for all to see. (Yeay for doctors who can write so you can read it!)
This bloke at pharmacy is extreme, he stared at my prescription, first above his glasses, then through the glasses, then above the glasses again. This went on for a good three minutes.
Then he gave me this shy glance, pointed at the prescription and said: "It is Seretide you want, isn't it?"
At that point I had a very strong urge to shout at him: "Why YES if it's WRITTEN on the prescription in your HAND, you IDIOT!!"
But I didn't.
My eyes must've hinted at my thoughts though, he gave me a nervous glance and hastily retreated behind his counter again, mumbling to himself.
Imagine being married to a bloke like that.
Wife: "You know..it's been a while since we...a-hem...shall we?"
He proceeds to look at her, first above his glasses, then through them, then above them again. This goes on for a good three minutes.
Wife: "Oh for goodness sakes, if you've got a headache just SAY so!!"
A while there at pharmacy I felt like eBay - "A bit more of this and I won't be held responsible for my auctions!!"
*is gently eased into straight-jacket*
*is given candy*
*sees the now familiar car*
*is happy, knowing I'll be in the Resting Home for a bit*

Poor li'l Cessy-cat - seems she snuck out when stepdad was having a smoke.
We heard these faint meows and hastily searched everywhere - until it dawned on us she could be outside.
So we opened the door and in she raced like a bolt of wet lightning, it was pouring down.
Rubbed her dry, and then we started operation reassuarnce.
Poor Cessy thought she was being punished for something, having been locked out - it took me a good hour and a half to get her calm enough to lie in her favey armchair again.
She is still a bit on her guard, almost as if wondering "When will you lock me out next time?"
She appears to have slept well through the night anyway!
The nephew caught himself some more Ramones-goodies yesterday - aaaarghs it makes me so happy!!:-)))))
This time it's a radio promo thing, which is quite rare! :-)
The Bro has shipped off the first box o' stuff for us, should be very interesting to see what it will contain!
Right, it's almost 5:30 am - Cessy thinks it's time for breakfast so I'm off to put the kettle on!

| Family research, and more good news on the way! :-) |
[12 Mar 2006|12:51pm] |
Have now done something about it - the loose end of our family history...Uncle Harry.
Or great-uncle to me, he was my mother's father's brother (phew!).
I know very little about Uncle Harry, only that he was born in the year 1900, that his second name was Florentin and that he went...missing.
The records here lists him as "unaccounted for" or "missing", my mother remembers hearing about Harry running away to America...all she knew for certain was that he suddenly showed up again, sometime in the early 1940's, that he then spoke with a peculiar American accent, and that he owned a factory in Chicago.
For years we've been meaning to ask about him, and today I did it!
Hope the nice folk at the Ellis Island reseach centre can be of assistance! :-)
More good news!
Am sending away the list of my second Beatles-order today! :-)
I'm very happy with the first ones I received!
Another Beatles collector tried to sell me a very scratchy copy of Sgt. Pepper - I politely declined the "offer", saying I'm finding my Beatles-goodies elsewhere! :-)
And the nephew has scored more Ramones-goodies - we're a happy family!!!

Aarghs!!!!
Such terribly nice folk!!!
It's all due to my nephew I tell you, he is like a good luck charm!!! :-)
Well, Mike from the record store was here and delivered some Beatles niceties:
Les Beatles A Paris, live double album with separate booklet, inteviews and tracks.
Magical Mystery Tour LP, German club edition, different cover, plus several non-Magical Tour songs.
Rubber Soul - India-pressing (Made in Dum Dum)
Beatles Love Songs - Bulgarian double album, cover imitates leather-look, inside cover shows great b/w photo of the lads!
And a signed ABBA LP!!!!

Have made some radical changes in the household's record collection - out goes Elvis Presley (sorry, but I'm no fan of his!) and in comes The Beatles!! :-)))
Went out today, expecting nothing as usual - the last few weekends have been...well....unimpressive.
Got an American White Album today, an original John Lennon Collection (the German one is great too, but it's nice with an original) plus a very nice-looking British Abbey Road at long last!
No stains or scratches like on the other ones (I bought those so they could retire in a loving environment) plus a Strawberry Fields 7", which is in near mint condition!!
The equally Beatles-happy nephew was glad to hear of my finds!!

Hm.
Typical.
Was about to snap pics of the Yamaha Wondermachine when the camera started to malfunction - graah!
*yells at camera*
Anyway, hopefully the thing will come to its senses (or should that be lenses) shortly! :-)
Got the first little Beatles-related item today - Paul's Wingspan 4-LP thingie from Holland! :-)
*is happy*
It's still sealed, so I'll try locating another copy which can be played! :)
*is very happy*
And then great Peter Kay-news, thankses Dawnster!!

Was asked yesterday by main supplier of Beatles yummety if I'd like some rare Eastern European pressings of records..eeeh...YES!!!!
He set that whole bunch aside for me too!!!
*dances about*
What more - am listing my record collection (the part of it I'm not embarrassed about anyway) online, so far I have 1326 records!! :-)
The vast majority of those are Beatles and related plus ABBA and related...:-)

*is seen playing keyboards*
Oh, hello!
Yes, it is the full-fledged Yamaha Thing going on here, the Rhumba Exotica is finally sounding the way I wanted it to!!!
*hugs keyboard*
Nice-sounding guitars, great rhythm-arrangements (on the Casio I always had to shut the drums off as they were more noise than anything else), plus you get four variations on each rhythm-arrangement!
The seller not only sounded like a terribly nice bloke on the phone, he WAS a terribly nice chap in person!
Took me a while to figure out how the thing worked, it's a whole other way of thinking than the Casio's, I tried downloading the user's manual in pdf but due to Norton being on red alert since my modem hi-jacking thing, I couldn't open the file...so I humbly asked Yamaha for a printed manual and it'll be on its way by Monday!! Yipee!!
Cessy has taken to the new keyboard too - I was going to play yesterday, only to find a cat stretched out on it so...:-)))
More great news!
Met a great new record collector pal - he has a whole bunch of Beatles rarities for me! :-)
As the bootlegs cost a great deal of money he has simply set the whole lot aside, so I can shop in peace and quiet when I can afford to! :-)
Nice bloke!!

Well Sunday's here and IT is here too - my beautiful new keyboard!!!
It's a Yamaha PSR 740 (photo's shortly at my other blog!), and it works like a charm!
Very nice sound effects (a woman screaming, a car racing by, footsteps etc) as well as great rhythms - finally Rhumba Exotica sounds as I always wished it would sound!!! :)
Now I have to figure out how to change the sounds of the auto accompaniment - I'm too excited and too tired to do it now!! :-)
*dances about yet again*
Oh I loves my keyboard!!!
And the bloke drove it here, what a gentleman!!!
*sends the bloke some hugses too*

Right - normally I'm a weekend sort of person..I enjoy Friday evening because it is Friday evening, the beginning of the weekend...but this weekend is different!!
Sunday cannot get here soon enough for me!!!
I cannot say too much as I'm scared I'll jinx it - I'll write full details Sunday evening...it's to do with a thing...which costs loads normally..that I've found dirt cheap..and it will hopefully arrive on Sunday!!!
I'm so happy!!!!!:-)))

| High hopes and headaches |
[10 Feb 2006|05:41pm] |
And it's Friday again.
I've possibly overdone the PS2-ing a bit, have massive headache going on and it appears to be the eyes causing it - stupid eyes!!
Had some sandwiches and tea and that cleared up some of the ache...:-)
Funny, Cessy must be equipped with some sixth medical sense - she knew I was getting flu before I knew (she slept on my feet at night, something she only does when I'm ill) and now when I walk (stagger) about with this headache she makes sure to be close by...
Nephew older might be checking in later this evening if he feels like it, his girlie's away at a pajama party...he's first away to my brother who's cooked dinner! :-)
Will be interesting to hear what the verdict will be on The Detectives and Exotic Rhumba..hope that misbehaving program can be set straight! :-)
Have donated this computer desk to a worthy cause, will be getting a smaller (cheap!) one at this furniture place...no shelves but the harddisc will be more easily accessible than it is here...thank goodness nephew younger is a thin bloke who crawls on floors easily!
(I used to crawl on floors easily but I've since....err..grown a bit!)
Soon time to let Per at the music shop look after a couple of geetars again, my Bernard has lost a string (D) and two of the newcomers need urgent attention! Thankfully I set money aside in the little (miniscule) piggy bank! :-)
Mike was very happy with the Levin!
The latest addition is a Russian dreadnought called Concertina..must think of a proper name for it..
Great-sounding guitar, originally a steel string but a clever previous owner has put nylonstrings on it - beautiful powerful sound!
Must snap some pics of it to add to the gallery!
(Irritating I cannot put images here!!)
Anyway, will have talks with nephew younger on the creation of our websites, must find some good program for it!! :-)
*opens door*
*is blown away*

| Cats And Muffins |
[08 Feb 2006|11:40am] |
And it's flu-time again!!!
Woke up yesterday morn' with pounding headache, sore throat, and runny nose - add this to my already scary facial features and you have the complete picture of a Flu Monster at work! :-)
Got cheered up though - Nephew Older called and asked if we'd like to come and munch apple muffins...freshly baked...
Well I caved in (major) and off we went!
Must say the apple muffins did live up to my culinary expectations, I think I had five...:-)
*pats rotund-er tummy*
They've become foster parents of a cat, a thoroughbred of some sort (blue eyes, white fluffy fur etc) - although it's a pretty thing it's sort of...not my type of cat :-)
Wheras Cessy is active, so much so that she's knocked down some of Mum's china dolls (thank goodness they all survived!!) I still prefer that to a cat that just basically...err...lies there!
They got some kitty toys for her (the white fluff) but so far she has shown no interest in them whatsoever..
Cessy thought she would be punished for knocking 'em dolls down - she made herself really tiny and waited for the storm...she was quite surprised when I just picked her up and held her and cuddled her - I cannot see the point of yelling or being mad - it doesn't make the dolls jump back on the shelf again..;-)
Cessy's been scared, that's obvious....she sort of "hid" in my arms when I held her, so I carried her around until she was absolutely sure there wouldn't be anything bad happening..-)
Hehe now she's sleeping calmly behind the keyboard, which is hooked up to the computer...:-)
Aah well, we're off to fetch money, am going to buy a PS2 game of the Olympics (don't laff) - could be fun to see how good one is at various err sports! :-)
*is carried out of room, kicking and screaming*
|
|
| The "Virtuoso" -ahem.... |
[04 Feb 2006|10:47pm] |
Hrhm.
Well.
Good thing about brothers? They're nice and have nice friends who know about computers and how to hook the keyboard to a computer to record some "meagre"..."compsitions"....
*sees people rolling in the aisles with laughter*
Yes, yes I'm the first to admit that my compositions are cr*p, but it's great just to be able to play them in a computerized program which can edit out all mistakes (and they are, sadly, plenty) - who'd have thought that I would one day be playing back my Rhumba - can someone please think of an exotic (not erotic!) name for a Rhumba??
I'll be darned if I can figure out what to call it.
It goes like this:
Na-na na-na-na-na-na na-na-na-na-na-na-na and then there's some other bits to it (which go in a completely different way but I'm sure you get the picture) and as rhumba's are exotic I thought of calling it - - - well, that's where I need your help.
I have come so far as actually recording it into the program - my brother's pal (El Grande Computer Genius) told me that when I've mastered the art of recording it in MIDI he'll show me how to create stuff in audio-files - meaning I can burn it onto CD!
*sees the world's music-lovers pack up and hide, and all acidic music critics rush forward with sharpened pens and evil grins*
Aah, well...it ain't much but it's a hobby!
(Resident psychiatrist: "No, it's therapy...")
*waves from inside straight-jacket*

| Another entry! |
[01 Feb 2006|06:23pm] |
Yes it's true, I'm back at LiveJournal again!!!
*listens to absence of thunderous applause*
Well a whole bunch of things have happened since I was here last - I mean something would be wrong if my life had stood still since August of last year...
The most overwhelming thing to happen was of course the sudden and unexpected death of my beloved Mum, Janet.
All my life I've most feared the moment when I'd lose her - she was my best friend and in many ways my therapist and coach, it was sort of her and me and my brother against the world...
I've sort of come to terms with the fact that she's dead, it's the gone-part I'm having some trouble with...
Whenever I hear a good joke or am recommended a book or film I instinctively want to tell Mum about it...
Aah well, I hope and believe she is in a much better place now, where she is free indeed..:-)
On a lighter note, Cessy's become very cuddly of late (if I knew how to upload pix here I'd show you), she has recently taken to sleeping on my arm, whilst lying flat on her back!
Saturday will hopefully see some great things - I'd finally be able to record my ¤¤%# "compositions" into mp3 format!
Not that it matters really, it would just be nice to hear it "professionally" recorded, instead of my rather useless tapes (which I thankfully seem to have lost somewhere!)
Bought meself a DVD writer (could be useful when wanting to create DVD's I noticed), the Magic Man Of Knowledge will most likely be able to give me a few hints on that too!!
Right, I'm off for some pasta - yum!
Hasta la vista til next time!

| More on Cessy's adventures |
[11 Aug 2005|09:21pm] |
Well today Cessy travelled to the vet's, in style (i.e cat traveller's box) - it was a meouwing session - she was NOT happy being trapped in there...but I talked to her calmingly and after a while it was as if she understood and accepted the situation.
The vet examined her, found that her heart and lungs were in peak condition (phew!)and that she is not malnutritioned or anything.
The vet also told us it's preferable that Cessy stays on her "diet" of dry food - it contains all the vitamins and stuff a cat needs.
Then Cessy got her young life's first ever injection - the required anti cat plague/cat flu shot - she growled a bit but faced it and then she sprinted round the room, like a victory lap - "I DID it! I DID IT!!!"
The vet said Cessy's one of the loveliest cats she's ever seen, what with Cessy being all grey, black, white and light-brown in a beautiful mix!
Three weeks from now Cessy will receive her "follow-up" anti cat plague/flu shot and we'll have her chipped, they put this little computer chip under the skin of her neck and she can always be identified!
Then we'll set an appointment when Cessy will be "taken care of" - no matter how lovely she is we do NOT want a bunch of kittens! :-)
She was SUCH a good girl at the vet's!!!
*hugs the little darling*

| Cessy, the Midnight Marauder |
[04 Aug 2005|09:11pm] |
I do think that God sends them to us.
He does work in mysterious ways they say.
So - Cessy (short for Princess) has moved in, courtesy of the nephew (who by the way is getting more handsome for each day what with that longish hair of his!) - she was horribly hungry and VERY apprehensive - a sign of a life on the run...
Anyway, she soon realised that there was FOOD in da house so we couldn't be all bad, now could we...she could soon be found cuddling away like crazy, and she even slept in my arms for a bit (aaaaaw) so well, that won my heart over...
She could be what we call a summer cat - tourists who bring kittens with them to the cottage over summer, and then when they return they either abandon the cat unceremoniously or boot them out of the car at the nearest petrol station (my nephew lives nearby a petrol station)...
Anyway - IF there is a rightful owner we will of course return her without further ado!
She likes having her paws cuddled, just like Moses...:-)
OK, here she draws my attention to the fact that it IS my turn to throw the ping-pong ball up the stairs, my step-dad just lost the first "match" :-)
*jumps into a dustbin to dance*

| The Guitar Retreat |
[29 Jul 2005|03:17pm] |
Friday.
It used to be a great day, TV-wise at least.
Not so anymore.
I've decided to turn my attention to my sadly neglected guitar-collection, brought home Scare-To-Death which will most likely emerge as a full-fledged Eliza next week - sadly the fret was too expensive to fix so we'll just paint her black and hang her on the wall as a decorative piece.
Who knows, once I'm a millionaire I'll get round to sorting her out properly!
Ordered ten new hangers for the rest of the lot, the hangers arrived today so we'll presumably set them up over the weekend.
The cheapy, Bill (Kapok) has a rattling sound to it - turns out there's some wobbly business with the bridge..will have to see to that. Otherwise it's got a fairly OK tone to it.
My second-oldest guitar, from 1953, has a very nice tone to it, is very easy to play, great!!!
(My very oldest is the handmade Thor Tibell from 1949)
The Guitar Retreat is slowly taking form - the guitars seem to get along well (??) with no fighting amongst them (???), on the contrary they seem loyal to one another (?????) and helpful (stop rambling!)
Mmmm am eating Polly at the moment (no, not the parrot) - I WILL start my new diet shortly, I promise!!
*stuffs gob*
And here is another meagre attempt at..hrhm.."poetry"...
Ode to the Guitar-Collection
Oh you wonderful musical things How I wish I could play your strings And create a musical bliss And write a hit - not a miss
If I could only be allowed To entrance an entire crowd With my guitaring - it would be so great But I fear for me it is all too late
But if I could dream I'd play and play And get fan-letters most every day And give very learned guitar-classes To all the guitar-devoted masses
But sadly my fingers are all short and thick They play so badly it makes me sick It's quite awful - I really know, so I'll never be a guitar-virtuoso...
Seriously, I love guitaring, I'm not much cop at it but it's FUN!!!
*plays and plays and sees neighbours flee in panic*

There it is!
My random ramblings (much like here in other words), plus the Polka Pranksters Featuring Svetlana (see the profile-bit, you'll understand a-hem)...
Am frantically reading Harry Potter (didn't get much sleep last night), can't believe the somewhat negative reviews it's gotten over here.
Have a renewed attack of flu it appears (or is it the hayfever making a brave return?), my head feels as if it's filled with concrete...bleeurgh....

There, that should do it!
Mmmm mints, delightful lovely mints!!!

Right, I'm off to try to catch up on the news...as it appears now I will not be going to the UK after all...can't blame Mum for being almost sick at the thought of me going to London...
I'm terribly sad over what's happening to London, I used to think of it as my dream town to visit...
Plus my fear of flying has been fuelled again *shudders at thought*

I have the best friends EVER!!!
Have just been chatting to the ever-delightful Jewel in Australia - not only will this brilly person come and fetch me here in Halmstad and securely bring me to England, she will also see me safely returned to the green, green grass of home!!!
Plus she will stay on here for a bit! Yay!!!
*does dance of the extremely happy*
It would appear that we will be in the UK for a week (at least) provided that no other eejits decide to blow people up - it made me so incredibly ANGRY to see what these nutters did!!!
*spits venom*
My fear of flying is greatly reduced - having someone you know close at hand is of course the very best way to travel!
I think I'll let her handle the booking of the flights - t'would be awful if we ended up sitting far away from each other!! :-)
*my usual luck*
Am sending off stuff to Lou, Dawn and Suzi tomorrow (pay-day is yay-day!)
I'm hoping the tape arrives today, will be so great!!!
*does yet another dance*
OK I best run out and check the mailbox!
